Leadership Positions

Serving as a Business School Ambassador and Senior Leader of the Chancellor’s Leadership class has given me the opportunity to work with incoming students and help illuminate the importance of being a leader on campus. I am able to help guide incoming students and freshmen on how to better acclimate on campus - especially because I know firsthand how nerve wracking it can be transferring to a new city and college. I came to Ole Miss knowing nobody and now I have made many friends and also find myself volunteering on campus as much as possible. The University of Mississippi has helped me become a more active student on campus and I know there are new students coming just like me that will not know anyone and would need a friendly person there to help guide them on how to be a top student in their class while also making friends along the way.

Chancellor's Leadership Class - Senior Leader

Being able to be a part of the Chancellor’s Leadership Class has not only opened up multiple doors for me (such as becoming a CEO for the School of Business at Ole Miss) but it was also a wonderful way for me to integrate myself on campus after transferring from New Orleans. I was able to learn about leading, accountability, integrity, and believing in myself from some of the most prominent community leaders in Oxford and important figures on the Ole Miss campus such as Rose Flenorl, Markeeva Morgan, and Dr. Cole. Each speaker was able to touch on different topics on how to become a better leader and also just a more well-rounded person. Mr. Doug Hederman was interesting because he is a well-known businessman in Oxford and my major is Marketing and Communication Strategy. Therefore, by taking this class I have been able to learn from a very diverse group of people that helped me really understand what it means to be a leader and how to apply that to myself in any situation. I especially enjoyed being able to create our own service project last year as it brought me closer to my classmates and with the community in general.

To be an effective leader you must lead a well-balanced life. Leadership is about keeping your team focused and motivated towards their goal -whatever that may be. So if someone is needing help with how to study for their classes, I know that as a 4.0 student I will be able to set them up for success through free tutoring or guiding them on where to find help. If someone is looking for new opportunities to volunteer on campus, I have found many different avenues already and I love to share my experiences and contacts with them.

Leadership is a choice, not a position. My perspective has grown so much during my time at Ole Miss and I am constantly given opportunities to expand my skills and have more diverse thoughts and feelings. I know that by being a part of the Ole Miss family, everyday is a learning moment and I will be able to develop my skills even further - not just for myself but for others that I meet along the way.
